one of the things i found really frustrating when doing research for iceland was not being able to find a decent road map – till i got to iceland. go figure huh?
maybe i’m an online research dud but boy looking for a good, simple road map was like looking for a needle in a couple of haystacks.
maps are important to me in getting my way around. plus my sense of direction is quite keen. even my mum wonders how i get in and out of new places when we go for drives.
she always says “i really don’t know how you find your way in and out of these unknown places. you must have an inner GPS or something.”
well, i always tell her that it was my ‘boot camp training’ in the US when i was there for about 6 years for college. i had to learn how to drive to new and different places quite often, which helped sharpen my sense of direction. it was a survival tactic. i knew if i didn’t step up to the plate, i’d end up in some hick town in the middle of nowhere lost and i hate getting lost.
maps are also important to me because like my approach to research, i like to see to see the big picture first before i zoom into the details.
so now here it is for your downloading pleasure.
